Every January, I feel the urge to reset, recharge, and set fresh goals for the year ahead. But instead of diving into huge, overwhelming resolutions, I’m keeping things simple this year with small, intentional changes. My focus? Finding easy, sustainable ways to get moving again. Here are five strategies I’m putting into practice:
1. Spend More Time Outdoors
Last year was such a whirlwind—between constant travel and home projects, I barely stopped to enjoy the outdoors. This year, I’m making it a point to take more neighborhood walks and soak in fresh air. Investing in a warm, stylish coat like the Moncler Quilted Down Long Parka gives me zero excuses to stay inside, no matter how chilly it gets.
2. Start Slow & Steady
Instead of overcommitting to an intense schedule, I’m easing in with just two workouts a week. Once that feels comfortable, I’ll add another session when I can. Progress feels more sustainable this way—and having comfortable leggings and sneakers on hand makes sticking to it much easier.
3. Find Little Ways to Move
Not every workout has to mean an hour at the gym. Parking farther from the store, taking the stairs, or stepping outside for a five-minute walk can all add up. Whenever I’m stuck at my desk too long, I try to lace up a pair of sneakers and do a quick loop around the block—it makes a world of difference.
4. Be Prepared for Opportunities
Life doesn’t always go according to plan, but I’ve learned to use that to my advantage. I keep a small bag in my car with workout gear so if I find a free half hour, I can slip into sneakers and leggings and make the most of it. Having everything ready removes the “I wasn’t prepared” excuse.
5. Walk the Dogs More
We have three dogs, and while they bring us so much joy, I know we could be better about walking them regularly. Dog walks are the perfect way to reset, catch up with my husband, and sneak in some extra steps. It’s a win for everyone—me, my husband, and our pups.
This year, I’m focusing less on perfection and more on consistency. Small changes add up, and by sticking with these little habits, I know I’ll feel healthier, stronger, and more balanced all year long.
